Chiropractic & Acupuncture

A Chiropractic adjustment or manipulation is the art of using a specific force in a precise direction, applied to a joint that is fixed, "locked up", or not moving properly. This adds motion to the joint, helping the bones gradually return to a more normal position and motion. The results of this safe and natural procedure are improved spinal function, improved nervous system function, and improved health.

Dr. Iseke incorporates many different techniques to ensure the best and most comfortable outcome for his patients. There are many ways to adjust the spine. Usually, the doctor's hands or a specifically designed instrument delivers a brief and highly accurate thrust. Some adjusting methods are quick, whereas others require a slow and constant pressure. Chiropractic manipulative therapy helps repair biomechanical and structural problems in the spinal column that can irritate parts of the enclosed nervous system. This irritation can result from harmful inflammatory biochemicals released during tissue injury or may result from direct mechanical pressure.

As the body's recuperative powers are connected through the nervous system, correcting spinal abnormalities which irritate the nervous system and can relieve pain in patients suffering from various health conditions that do not appear to be related to the spine.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) practice that originated thousands of years ago. It is based on the premise that a blockage or disturbance in the flow of energy, or “qi”, can cause health issues.

Acupuncturists insert hair-thin needles to specific points throughout the body to restore the flow of qi to balance the body’s energy, stimulate healing, and promote relaxation.

According to TCM theory, there are over 1000 acupuncture points on the body, each lying on an invisible energy channel, or “meridian.” Each meridian is associated with a different organ system.

How Acupuncture Works

Acupuncture stimulates the release of endorphins, your body's natural pain-relieving chemicals. Acupuncture is also said to influence the autonomic nervous system (which controls bodily functions) and the release of chemicals that regulate blood flow and pressure, reduce inflammation, and calm the brain, making you feel more relaxed.
